Building Stronger Support Systems for Student Veterans: Our Multi-Phase Collaboration with SVA

CVTI partners with Student Veterans of America to launch a three-phase initiative designed to empower chapter advisors and strengthen regional ecosystems of support for student veterans

One of our favorite things to do is to collaborate with aspirational partners to build stronger, regionally-grounded cultures of support for student veterans and military-connected students.

This summer, as part of Student Veterans of America's Regional Summits, we partnered with SVA to begin a multi-phase project grounded in reflection, collaboration, and action—and with the goal of empowering SVA chapters all across the country.

Phase 1: Virtual Pre-Summit Session

We hosted a virtual session with Chapter Advisors scheduled to attend SVA's Indianapolis Regional Summit. Utilizing CVTI's Flash Diagnostic, a tool that allows stakeholders to chart in-place support systems and identify areas of possible improvement, we taught them on how to use the tool so they could return to their institution and give it a try prior to attending the in-person summit.

Phase 2: In-Person Summit Hosted by SVA

SVA brought these chapter advisors together enabling them to talk about what they learned from the Flash Diagnostic and share perspectives more deeply during the regional summit.

Phase 3: Virtual Follow-Up

We reconvened with participants to reflect on their progress, share lessons learned, and identify 2–3 actionable priorities for the year ahead.

These sessions are about more than assessment—they’re about building intentional, community-driven ecosystems of support that reflect the unique needs of each region and campus.

We’re proud to support this kind of listening-based, transformative work and we're inspired by the leadership of advisors showing up for student veterans and military-connected students every step of the way.

Oh... and we've never met a chance to collaborate with SVA that we didn't like!
