At the Columbia University Center for Veteran Transition and Integration (CVTI), lasting change begins with listening — listening to veterans, to their families, and to the educators, employers, and service organizations that support them. Since its founding in 2017, CVTI has worked to build intentional partnerships and practical solutions that help the military-connected community thrive.

This year’s 2024 Impact Report reflects that journey of collaboration and growth. It looks back on eight years of progress while charting a forward path rooted in innovation, collaboration, and measurable impact.

“Producing this impact report really helped us get a fuller sense of what we've accomplished since our founding eight years ago,” said Beth Morgan, CVTI’s Director of Higher Education Transition and Partnerships. “We’re proud of how much we’ve done, but we’re even prouder of how much we’ve learned.”

Building Systems of Support Nationwide

In partnership with leaders across higher education, government, corporate, and nonprofit sectors, CVTI supported initiatives that reached more than 1,100 organizations across the country. These collaborations expanded access to evidence-based tools and empowered institutions to design support systems that meet their unique needs and capacities.

““I think our impact report does a good job of communicating the scope and impact of our work to date, but what excites me most thinking about the work we do is what it can’t capture: years of conversations with colleagues, years of careful listening to dedicated veteran-serving professionals, years of bringing people together with the goal of building stronger outcomes for veterans,” remarked Dave Keefe, CVTI’s Director of Community Engagement. “This report is the result not only of our work at CVTI, but also of the extraordinary generosity, talent, and dedication of the individuals and institutions who have chosen to partner with us.”

Highlights from the 2024 Report

  • Nearly $600,000 in cost savings identified for organizations improving services for the military-connected community
  • Over 2,300 collaborative engagements strengthening inclusive and effective systems of support
  • A growing library of practical research, diagnostic tools, and training now utilized by more than 250,000 individuals nationwide

From Ideas to Action

From launching new diagnostic tools and co-hosting national summits to advancing applied research capabilities, CVTI’s work continues to translate insights into impact. Each initiative — whether a new online resource or a large-scale partnership — helps the military-connected community and those who serve them move from ideas to action.

As the report makes clear, CVTI’s success is not only measured in data, but also in relationships. The organization’s progress is fueled by the educators, veterans, and advocates who share its commitment to collaboration and long-term systems change.
