I think one of the greatest things that I learned in the military that has helped me in college is the fact that any time you encounter something that is extremely mentally challenging, you can get through it.
You can persist. You are stronger than you think you are. And I learned that so many times throughout college. There were times that I just felt like I needed to quit, that I could not persevere. But I kept on, and I really took advantage of mental health resources and my advisor and I kept taking little steps forward.
And those little steps got me to the finish line. It's not always necessary to make big, sweeping advancements in whatever you're learning. Sometimes it's just about baby steps. I took an incredibly intense physics course that just absolutely rocked me.
And the best way that I got through this was just sitting down with a tutor, going through little tiny things, and just learning it kind of step by step. And it took a lot of effort mentally, but that's how I got through it, little by little.
