Introduction to Choosing a Right-Fit College (Veteran Voices)

The biggest challenge I faced when looking into the college search process is just, where the hell do I begin. There's just so much information out there that I wasn't really quite sure where to research, what to look into. What information I found was kind of noise.
And that was the biggest things-- veterans are very, very, you know, structured, I guess. And not having any idea where to look was such a big hurdle that it was hard to just even start. If I don't know where I'm even going with my research-- it was tough for me to even start.
So the biggest hurdle for me was just going on the internet and just figuring out as much information as I can. Once I set on the-- once I told myself that I wanted to pursue education, I knew that I wanted to go to a university that-- I would just-- went into research mode on the internet and try to find as much information as I can.
As it turns out, I picked the-- the environment of the school I chose was perfect, because when I was here, what I found was not that I'm surrounded by 19-year-old me, which would have been terrible, mind you. But rather, I was surrounded by people who were more like me, who also chose a school because of its fit, because of its personality, because of its reputation.
And in that environment, what I found were serious people who wanted to study, who were extremely smart, who didn't detract from a learning environment, but added a ton to it. And I found that I learned a lot from them. So I think a big part of choosing a fit of school is realizing you're not only choosing a school, you're choosing the people, too. And I think that can be just as important.
