The homework syllabus was definitely my best friend during every single semester that I spent in college. I would shop around classes and once I decided which class I was gonna take, I would put all my syllabuses together. And that helped me in so many different ways. For one, I kind of had a structure that I was really missing from the military. I had my days kind of lined up. I knew what I needed to do, when I needed to do it, and I also knew like when I was gonna have a tricky area, like a trouble spot.
So for example, there was one time I noticed, maybe like a month ahead of time, that I had a test and an essay due on the same day. And for me that, there was a lot of anxiety around that, so I emailed both of my professors, I let 'em know what was going on, and both of them were like wow, you've really got your stuff together. "Go ahead and take an extension for my essay," and then for my other professor was like, "Hey, way to be on top of things." And that's helped me multiple times.
