My newest passion, I would say, is really wrapped up in my music and software development. I spoke a little bit about the music earlier. On the software development side, really finding interesting applications that I can develop that solve problems for people in the real world or provide functionality that never existed before just gets the juices flowing. I mean, it's just one of the most fun things that I do.
I think everybody has something like that in their lives. It's super important to never let that go and to really focus on spending some time working on it and continuing to hone the craft. The way that I see it, if you're doing well in your career or life or not, if you don't set aside creative time to sit down and do the things you're most passionate about, what are you even doing it for? You should be enabling yourself to pursue your passions in addition to your career goals and give yourself a little bit of a break.
As far as discovering my new passion now after the military or just in this different kind of phase-- being a reservist and being at college-- what that passion looks like now, I would say I'm definitely still in the process. I thought I found it during health coaching. I really enjoyed helping people live better lives. I thought that was amazing. I really enjoy community service. I really enjoy being a part of the board here with Milvets. Those are all things that I know I like. I like to see people who want to achieve achieve.
I think, for me, what I'm actually realizing now more and more is that my real passion is really singing.
[LAUGHS]
It's been a long time in coming, actually. And I think I enjoy it so much because it's really an authentic expression, an authentic way to connect with people. And it really does move others. And I think once we find what we're truly passionate about, it not only allows us to be authentic, but it can also get us through those dark times when, sometimes, you are lacking just the pure discipline to push yourself through. Sometimes you need to actually spend time, again, like listening to who you are in that alone space, having a mentor that can help pull that out of you, having friends that can help guide you towards it.
But for me, like I said, it's been a long time in coming. It still is developing. I love seeing what moves people. And to be a part of that through music is really powerful. So I'm learning that one now.
